AnneMarie Carey, L-CPC

I approach therapy as a collaborative and deep human process, grounded in the belief that
meaningful change happens within the relationship between therapist and client. Research
consistently shows that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of
progress, and I prioritize creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood,
and supported without judgment.

I often think of our lives as a tapestry, woven over time with many different threads. Some
are bright and joyful, others are darker, tangled, or harder to understand—but all of them
are part of your story. At times, it can feel like certain pieces don’t fit or make sense, or that
the heavier threads stand out more than the rest. Therapy offers a space to slow down and
gently look at those threads together—without judgment. We begin to untangle what feels
overwhelming, understand how your experiences connect, and start to see the fuller picture
of who you are. From there, we can begin to shape a path forward that feels more clear,
balanced, and aligned with the life you want to create.

My work is trauma-informed and integrates evidence-based practices including Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy
(SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness. I also draw from systems theory to
understand the broader contexts shaping each individual’s life and experiences.
I work with diverse populations across residential and outpatient settings, supporting
individuals navigating substance use disorders, polysubstance use, co-occurring mental
health conditions, trauma, anger management, and life transitions. My approach focuses on
helping clients build insight, strengthen boundaries, and develop practical, measurable
coping strategies that support stability in daily life.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), a Certified Addictions-Informed
Mental Health Professional (CAIMHP), and a Certified Anger Management Treatment
Professional (CAMTP). I have a strong interest in the neurobiology of addiction and trauma
and incorporate psychoeducation and dynamic group work to help clients better
understand themselves and their experiences while fostering meaningful engagement and
growth.

I have extensive experience conducting biopsychosocial assessments, ASAM evaluations,
risk assessments, and developing comprehensive treatment and discharge plans. I
collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and external systems, including courts,
Child Protective Services (CPS), and community agencies, to ensure continuity and quality
of care.

At the core of my work is the belief that people are not defined by any single experience, but
by the full complexity of their lives—and that with the right support, meaningful and lasting
change is possible.
